Command WorkStation can send and receive status messages from EFI printers and from third-party manufacturers.

Both the print MIS device and the EFI printer must support bidirectional communication.

Command WorkStation can:

• Receive print-ready jobs from a print management information system (print MIS device) and submit them to the printer, if the particular combination of devices supports it.

• Transmit information about the current job status back to the print MIS device.

• Receive information about media consumption and ink consumption from the printer.
