Adjust the special effects layer

This feature may not be supported on every Fiery server. If your Fiery server supports specialty colors, you can use the following Special Effects Layer settings to apply specialty inks and special effects to individual images:

  • Type - Selects the type of ink. Only licensed inks are shown here.

  • Ink Level - Selects the ink percentage.

  • Style - Chooses from the following options: Posterize, Emboss, Hue Select, and Highlight Select. These options will create different patterns on the image depending on the option selected.

  • Invert - Inverts the effect of the applied style.

  • Amplitude - Displaces the hue angle, allowing you to apply color to different ranges of a hue by modifying the distance from the hue color on the color wheel.

  • Hue - Selects the hue angle on which the special effects layer will be applied. Enabled only if you select Hue Select in the Style menu.

  • Saturation - Increases or decreases the intensity and purity of a color in an image. Enabled only if you select Hue Select or Highlight Select in the Style menu.

  • Expand - Condenses or expands the area within the image where the hue or highlight is applied. Enabled only if you select Hue Select or Highlight Select in the Style menu.

  • Mode (Preview) - Lets you preview the image in different modes, including Lighting, Specular, and Overlay. This effect will not be saved in the job or printed.

Note: You cannot apply a specialty color layer to an X-object image in a PDF.
