Perform Zero-touch recalibration
The Zero-touch recalibration feature checks that jobs use an up-to-date calibration. If the calibration is outdated, Zero-touch recalibration will automatically calibrate the job with the inline sensor.

Zero-touch recalibration is triggered when a job is released to the printer, and a check is made for outdated calibrations.
The Job Summary Pane in Command WorkStation Job Center displays a calibration warning (red) when a job has an outdated calibration.
The calibration status is checked before the job is sent to print. If the calibration becomes outdated while a job is printing, the job will not be suspended. We recommend that you calibrate before printing a long job to minimize the possibility of the calibration becoming outdated while the job is printing.
If the calibration of a job is outdated, the Fiery server can suspend the job when you try to print it. The suspended job is not printed but remains in the Printing queue in a suspended state.
Jobs for which Zero-touch recalibration fails to update the calibration will remain in the suspended state.
Because Zero-touch automatic recalibration is limited to CMYK and grayscale color modes, jobs with CMYK+ and calibratable specialty colors will only be suspended.
You can release a suspended job manually. When you double-click on a suspended job, you can print the job without refreshing its calibration, calibrate it manually, or leave it in a suspended state.
Zero-touch recalibration will be more efficient if a tray always contains an appropriate quantity of paper the inline spectrophotometer can measure. When zero-touch recalibration starts, the software can automatically find the best match between a paper the inline spectrophotometer supports and the paper requested by your jobs. The inline spectrophotometer is not always compatible with the paper used by your jobs.
- Job Properties specifies any media type and an explicit tray associated with Paper Catalog or Media Catalog
- A specific Paper Catalog or Media Catalog entry
If none of the previous conditions is met, the job is suspended and not automatically calibrated.
- Zero-touch calibration will use the tray specified by your job if the inline spectrophotometer supports the requested paper. Otherwise, an alternate tray is automatically selected.
- Use the 1-step color management feature for every new paper at least once to prevent situations where the output profile for the new paper is set to its factory value, "Printer’s default." Color quality control is more precise when a specific output profile is assigned.
- In the Media tab of the Job Properties window, set Paper Catalog or Media Catalog to the name of your paper, and in the Color tab, set the Output profile to Use job defined settings.
- Calibration with the inline spectrophotometer consumes less paper for some paper sizes and orientations. The landscape orientation is typically more efficient. Sometimes, it is possible to save supplies by proactively calibrating using the 1-Step color management feature, for instance, at the beginning of a day or when loading papers in the printer trays. In Command WorkStation Job Center, make sure to associate each tray with a Paper Catalog or Media Catalog entry.
Types of jobs affected by calibration limit
The Fiery server can determine if the calibration is outdated for most jobs, including:

Jobs submitted from an application using the Fiery PostScript printer driver.

Only printed PostScript; imported PostScript, PDF, and TIFF jobs.

Jobs that have been processed (including processed VPS and VIPP jobs).
The Fiery server cannot determine if the calibration is outdated and therefore will not suspend the following types of jobs:

Jobs submitted from an application without using the Fiery PostScript printer driver. This includes VPS and VIPP jobs that have not been processed.
It is recommended that you use the 1-step color management feature to calibrate the papers used by the VDP jobs.

Jobs submitted through the Direct connection. These type of jobs cannot be suspended in any case.
In addition, the Fiery server does not check the calibration of jobs that were printed using the Force Print command. The Force Print command can be used on jobs that were suspended because of a job mismatch (the paper or finishing required for the job was not available). These types of jobs, because they are being forced to print, are not checked for calibration.
