Edit a spot color in a job

You can edit a spot color in a job from the Command WorkStation Held list.

The Fiery server will detect that a job includes spot colors.

  1. Select a spooled job in the Held list and do one of the following:
    • Right-click the job and select Edit Spot Color.
    • Click Actions > Edit Spot Color.
    • Click the Edit icon () in the Summary tab of the Job Summary Pane.
Note: The Edit Spot color option is available only for a PDF job that contains spot colors.

The Summary tab in the Job Summary Pane lists the number of available spot colors in the job under Spot colors. The list of available spot colors shows the ΔE value for all supported ΔE formats, for every available spot color. Available spot colors show a warning icon when the ΔE value exceeds the tolerance set in the Spot Pro Preferences window.

In the Edit Spot Color window, the available spot colors in the job are listed and have been associated to the correct spot color library, spot color group, or the named ICC profile.

  2. In the Edit Spot Color window, do any of the following:
    • Resolve a missing spot color by adding it to the Fiery server or aliasing it to an existing spot color on the Fiery server.

Add a missing spot color by defining the L*a*b*, LCH, or device CMYK values and adding it to a new or existing spot color group.

Note: For printers that support CMYK+ configurations, you can define CMYK colorants plus additional colorants.
    • Add all spot colors in the job to a new or existing custom group. You can add missing spot colors one at a time by defining or aliasing.
    • Resolve duplicate spot colors.

Two spot colors in the same spot color group cannot have the same name. If one of the spot colors in the job has the same name as an existing spot color, you can choose not to replace the existing spot color with the new spot color.

    • Manage alias-linked spot colors. Spot Pro shows all aliases mapped on the Fiery server. Alias edits on the Fiery server need time to update and may take a while to refresh.
    • Add specialty colors to spot colors for printers that support specialty color.
Note: Specialty colors cannot be turned on or off using the job-based spot color editor. You can turn specialty colors on or off in Job Properties.
    • Print a swatch book by printing all the spot colors in the job. Spot Pro indicates missing spot colors as empty patches with a cross symbol when printed.
  3. Click Save to save your changes, click Save & Close to save and apply the changes to the job, or click Close to exit without saving.
