Spot colors in Spot Pro

Spot Pro is a comprehensive program for creating, managing, and editing spot colors. Spot Pro allows you to edit spot color definitions on the Fiery server and create custom spot color definitions. Spot colors are a part of the Spot Pro feature. If Spot Pro is available for your Fiery server and is enabled, you can adjust and manage lists of spot colors and their alternate color space equivalents.

The Fiery server has an internal spot color library that automatically manages the spot colors of all major spot color manufacturers. If you load a job containing a spot color unknown to the Fiery server, you must define it before you can print the job correctly.

Spot Pro preloads the Fiery server libraries of named spot colors, such as those from PANTONE, HKS, TOYO, and DIC. The spot color libraries store the original spot colors with their device-independent definitions (L*a*b* values). For each output profile on the Fiery server, Spot Pro computes the best available output device color space for each spot color. Each time a new profile is generated or updated, Spot Pro automatically recalculates the best output device color space and converted L*a*b* values.

You can create a list of substitute colors. Substitute colors are colors that, when called for in a document by their RGB or CMYK values, are substituted with a different color having the CMYK values from the Spot Pro color definition. Using substitute colors in this way permits exact color control and overrides individual RGB and CMYK colors.
