Create an alias link for an original spot color

An alias creates a symbolic link between two spot colors with different names, and ensures that the original spot color uses the color values of the target spot color.

  1. In Spot Pro, click the Alias icon () on the toolbar.
  2. Type the name of the original color in the Original color field and click the Add original color button to add it.

You can add more than one original color at a time. An original color does not need to be present on the Fiery server to create an alias for it.

Original colors that are present on the Fiery server are shown with the Present tag and a light green background color. Original colors that are not present on the Fiery server are shown with the Not Present tag and a light red background color.

  3. In the Alias to search field, type a name of a spot color and click the Search alias color icon () to search.
  4. In the results list, choose a target spot color.

Print jobs containing the original spot colors will print with the separation values of the linked target spot color.

Note: The information and fields associated with L*a*b*, separation, and variations are disabled for the original spot colors.
  5. After selecting the alias color, click Add Alias.

The original color will show the linked target spot color in the table.

  6. Click Apply & Close to save the information on the Fiery server.
