Server Presets

Server Presets provide a consistent set of printing options that all users can use. Users can save Local Presets to their computer, but only an Administrator can save, edit, publish, and delete Server Presets.

Server Presets are accessible from:

  • Command WorkStation - In Device Center, select Workflows > Job Presets.

  • Command WorkStation Job Properties - Click the Properties toolbar icon in Job Center and select from the Presets list.

  • Fiery Hot Folders - See Fiery Hot Folders Help.

  • Virtual Printers - See Virtual printers.

  • Windows and macOS printer drivers

An Administrator can create Fiery Hot Folders and virtual printers based on a server preset. Editing the server preset also changes the settings for those hot folders and virtual printers.

Archived jobs with server presets

Archived jobs retain the job information and the preset name. When an archived job is restored to the same Fiery server from which it was created, the server preset is shown in the Preset column header for any of the Job Center queues, such as Processing and Printing.

Tracking edited presets

If a server preset was modified after it was applied to a held, printed, or archived job, the preset name is marked with an asterisk (*). The asterisk indicates that the preset was edited by an Administrator after the job was submitted. To use the latest settings, re-apply the preset to the job.

If the Preset column header was added to any of the Job Center queues (Printing, Processing, Held, Printed, or Archived), the asterisk and job name are displayed in the Preset column.

Default server presets

To help users getting started with Fiery server workflows, five default server presets that represent commonly used settings are included. The default server presets are factory installed. Default server presets are available on a Fiery server with Fiery system software FS200/200 Pro or later, if supported by the server.

When the Fiery server first starts, the relevant default presets are shown based on the Fiery server default paper size and language settings.

The default server presets are:

  • 2up_landscape
  • Duplex_grayscale
  • Duplex_staple
  • Large_booklet
  • Small_booklet
Note: User-created presets include all settings in the Job Properties window, even if the settings were not modified. In contrast, the default server preset includes only the settings listed above. All other settings are inherited from the job or server defaults.

A default server preset can be edited from Command WorkStation (in Device Center, select Workflows > Job Presets. If a default server preset is edited, then it stops being a default preset, and becomes a local preset.

The following restrictions and limitations apply to default server presets:
  • When a default server preset is applied to jobs with mixed media settings, the mixed media settings are not retained.
  • Default server presets for booklets do not show cover settings in the Layout tab. To add separate covers, click Normal, and then click Booklet again. The cover settings will be displayed.
  • VDP jobs do not support Booklet Maker and Gangup settings from Job Properties, therefore these settings will be ignored when a default server preset is used.
Note: To create booklet or gangup jobs with VDP jobs, use Fiery Impose.
  • When you use default server presets with Paper Catalog-driven or Media Catalog-driven printers, be sure to edit the preset to assign a paper catalog or media catalog entry before using it.
