Assign a custom calibration and baseline profile for the selected paper in a tray

The 1-step color management feature allows you to assign a custom calibration and baseline profile for the selected paper in the specified tray.

  1. In Command WorkStation, right-click a tray and select 1-step color management.
  2. Select the measurement instrument from the list and click Next.
    Do one of the following:
    • For a printer with an inline sensor, the printer prints and measures the calibration automatically. If you calibrate the media for the first time, the printer prints and measures the profile following the calibration.

      Keep in mind the following:
      • This workflow is more efficient if you right-click on a tray with the same media in a size and orientation that is compatible with the inline sensor.
      • Only recalibration is done when a custom profile is already assigned in Paper Catalog or Media Catalog. A new calibration is not created.

      • If the inline sensor does not support the selected media size or a comparable paper is not available, choose a different measurement instrument to continue.
    • For a handheld spectrophotometer, follow the online instructions to measure the printed color patches.
  3. If a matching output profile is detected, do one of the following:
    • Click Continue to create a custom output profile.
    • Click Done to use the existing output profile.
  4. Click Done.

The printer calibrates the color for the selected media for use with the newly created color profile, or the printer refreshes the calibration for the chosen media if a profile already exists.

If you measured the color patches manually, you can create a custom profile to get more accurate color. To create a custom profile, click Create new profile and follow the online instructions.

If two papers are similar enough that they do not justify a custom profile for each, you can manually assign an existing profile in Paper Catalog or Media Catalog. For example, Hammermill 20 and Hammermill 24 can use the same profile.
