Create a media catalog entry

Administrators can specify new media and media attributes in Media Catalog.

Depending on whether PPD based settings or JDF based settings are selected, the Administrator must specify media attributes in the following tabs:
  • For PPD based - General, Sizes, and Color Settings
  • For JDF based - General, Other Attributes, Sizes, and Color Settings
  1. Open Media Catalog. For more information, see Access Media Catalog.
  2. In the Media Catalog window, click Settings on the toolbar and choose either the PPD based or JDF based setting.
Note: The media attributes that available for use differ depending on whether you select PPD based or JDF based settings.
  3. Click Add New on the toolbar.
  4. In the New window, specify the attributes.

For each setting marked with an asterisk (*), you must enter a value or select an option from the list. For more information, see Common media attributes .

    Note the following:
    • Duplicate names for catalog entries are not allowed when you create a new media catalog entry.
    • For attributes that have an applicable range, you must specify a value that is within the valid range.
    • If a job restored from an archive contains a media catalog entry that is not in the database, create a new media catalog entry with the attributes of the archived job and assign it to the restored job.
    • The unique name may be composed of media entry name and size.
    • It is generally not recommended to restore jobs with paper catalog entries to the Media Catalog. If restored, they may not produce the desired result.
