Editing or deleting paper catalog entries

With Fiery Command WorkStation 6.8 and later, you can edit or delete a paper catalog entry even if it is a default server setting or assigned to any of the following:

  • Job
  • Tray
  • Smart media
  • Preset
  • Virtual printer

To edit or delete a paper catalog entry that is associated with a tray, you must first remove the association. For more information, see Remove tray association.

To view all jobs using a particular paper catalog entry, perform an advanced search. For more information, see Search for jobs using a paper catalog entry.

Remove tray association

To remove the tray association, you must do the following:
  1. In the consumables area in Fiery Command WorkStation, click the arrow to the right of a tray.
  2. Click Remove Association.

Edit a Paper Catalog entry

You can edit attributes and values of paper catalog entries.

  1. In the Paper Catalog window, do one of the following:
    • Select the entry and click Edit on the toolbar.
    • Double-click the selected entry.
    • Right-click the selected entry and select Edit.
    A message notifies you that one or more jobs use the paper catalog entry.
  2. If the paper catalog entry is associated with any of the following:
    1. Tray: A message notifies you to remove the tray association. For more information, see Remove tray association.
    2. Job, smart media, preset, virtual printer, or a default server setting: A message notifies you that one or more jobs use the paper catalog entry.
    Click OK in response to the message.
  3. Enter information in the text fields or click the arrow to display the list for that attribute. Choose the new attribute setting or enter the new attribute value.
    Note: If you enter an incorrect value for a media attribute and move on to another media attribute, the incorrect media attribute will revert to its previous value.
  4. Click OK to save the changes.
Note: For jobs that are already in queues, the media attribute columns will be updated when the job is processed or printed, or when you open the Job Properties window.

Delete a Paper Catalog entry

You can delete a paper catalog entry in the Paper Catalog window.

  1. In the Paper Catalog window, select the paper catalog entry that you want to delete from the list.
    Note: Use Shift-click to select multiple sequential entries, and ctrl-click to select multiple entries that are not sequential.
  2. Delete the selected entry in one of the following ways:
    • Click Delete on the toolbar.
    • Right-click the selected entry and select Delete.
    If the paper catalog entry is associated with a tray, job, smart media, preset, virtual printer, or a default server settinga, do one of the following::
    • Tray - A message notifies you that the selected entry is associated with one or more trays. Click Yes to remove the tray association and delete the paper catalog entry.
    • Job, smart media, preset, virtual printer, or a default server setting - A message notifies you that one or more jobs use the paper catalog entry. To delete the entry, click OK in response to the message that appears.
Note: After you delete the paper catalog entry, it will no longer be associated with the job. In the Job Properties window, the Paper Catalog list will display Not defined.
