View or edit custom halftone screens

You can customize the values for a halftone screen by configuring a custom halftone screen and then selecting the screen in the Halftone Simulation print option when you print a job.

You can specify up to three custom halftone screens that correspond to the User Screen 1, User Screen 2, and User Screen 3 settings for the Halftone Simulation print option. For each of these screens, you can define the angle, frequency, and dot shape.

Specify a custom halftone screen

You specify a custom halftone screen in the Halftone Simulation window.

In Device Center, click the Color Setup tab and click Halftone Simulation.
In the Halftone Simulation window, specify the angle and frequency for each color channel (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black), and dot shape for a custom halftone screen.
- Angle - Angle in degrees (0-360) for each color.
- Frequency - Frequency refers to the number of rows of spots that combine to form a halftone dot, expressed in Lines per Inch (LPI).
  
  To constrain all four color channels to the same Frequency value, select the link icon.
  
  If your Fiery Server does not support different Frequency values for each color, the Frequency value is applied to all color channels.
- Dot shape - Select a shape from the list or select Custom to specify a custom shape.

Specify a custom dot shape

You can customize a dot shape if the standard dot shapes do not meet your needs.

In the Edit Dot Shape window, select a predefined shape from the Template list.
The PostScript function for the shape appears in the text field.
Modify the shape by editing the PostScript function, and then click Preview to view it.
Change the size of the preview by moving the Area Coverage slider.
Save the custom shape and close the window by clicking OK.
