Allow or restrict a range of IP addresses

Restrict unauthorized connections to the Fiery Server by defining a range of IP addresses.

You can allow access only to the range of IP addresses or block access from the IP addresses. You can maintain separate ranges that you need for allowing and blocking. Commands or jobs sent from unauthorized IP addresses are ignored by the Fiery Server.

Important: There are two versions of Configure and they are specific to the Fiery Server you are connected to. This is a combined procedure that describes what to do when connected to a Fiery Server with FS100/100Pro or earlier, and notes about what to do with FS150/150 Pro or later. If you are not sure which version of Configure you are using, see Which version of Configure am I using?.

From Configure, choose Network > Protocol > TCP/IP > Security.
Note: If you are connected to a Fiery Server with FS150/150Pro, you can find settings mentioned in this procedure in Security > IP Address Filtering instead.
Select the IPv4 tab and select Enable IPv4 Filtering, or select the IPv6 tab and select Enable IPv6 Filtering.
Note: If you are connected to a Fiery Server with FS150/150Pro, select the IPv4 Address Filtering and IPv6 Address Filtering check boxes instead.
If you add several ranges, choose the type of policy that you apply to the majority of IP address ranges that you want to add. From the Default Filter Policy list, choose Accept to allow a range of IP addresses. Choose Deny to block a range of IP addresses.
Note: Use the Default Filter Policy list as an aid when you want to add several ranges consecutively. When you eventually define the range, you can choose Accept or Deny, regardless of the setting for the default. Settings in the Default Filter Policy list do not apply to ranges after you have added them.
Click Add.
Note: If you are connected to a Fiery Server with FS150/150Pro, click Add IPv4 Address Filtering or Add IPv6 Address Filtering instead.
In the window that appears, choose Accept or Deny for the range of IP addresses.
Type the range of IP addresses (IPv4) or type the IPv6 Address and Prefix Length (IPv6), and then save your changes.
Repeat the previous steps to add more ranges.
Apply or save your changes.
Important: If you set a range of IP addresses to deny but do not also set a range to accept, all network communication to the Fiery Server is disabled.
