Reset measurement data

You can reset the measurement data for a particular calibration setting to the default data (either the factory default data or, for a custom calibration setting, the initial measurement data). This option is not available if the current measurement data is already the default data.

Reset measurement data for color printers

For color printers, there may be one or more calibration settings.

  1. In Command WorkStation, click Server > Device Center.
  2. Under General, click Tools, and then click Calibrator.
  3. In Calibrator, open Calibration Manager.
  4. Select the calibration setting and click View Measurements.
  5. Click Reset to Default Measurements.
  6. Click Yes to confirm.

Reset measurement data for black-and-white printers

For black-and-white printers, there is a single calibration setting.

When is it helpful to Reset to Default Measurements?

There may be times where you want to revert to the default calibration measurements.

Keep the following in mind:

  • After service has been done.

If the technician made changes to improve the printer’s color quality, it is likely that the printer’s color is now closer to when the calibration setting was created than it was when the printer was last calibrated before service.

  • When the quality of the current measurements is in doubt.

You are getting bad color, even after a fresh calibration. In such situations, it is possible that the last calibration measurements have been corrupted, for instance by a defective calibration instrument or by a measurement mistake the operator made but Calibrator did not detect.

Reverting to the original measurements will produce the exact same color as when the calibration setting was created only if the printer now behaves exactly like it was at the creation time. It is unnecessary to reset measurements before recalibrating, because the recalibration process is not iterative: fresh measurement data is captured, totally ignoring previous calibration sessions.
