Alias spot colors

The mapping or linking of alias spot colors to an original spot color on the Fiery server can be accomplished in a few steps.

Keep in mind the following when creating an alias spot color:
  • An alias spot color must have a unique name across all the spot color groups.
  • An alias spot color with the same name cannot be in two different spot color groups.
  • If the original spot color is changed, then the links to the other alias spot colors will be updated.
  • A spot color of the same name, even if in different spot color groups, cannot be linked to two different spot colors. When an alias link is created for a spot color, then all spot colors with the same name even across multiple groups will have the same alias link. Similarly, when an alias link is deleted for a spot color, then all the spot colors with the same name will also have their alias links deleted.
  • The alias spot colors, both the spot color and the spot color it is being mapped to, should not have the “@” character in the spot color name.
  • The alias information will need time to refresh when the user switches between output profiles. Until the refresh operation is complete, the user will not see the updated alias information.
  • The import and export of spot colors with alias links are not supported for the .ASE and .CXF file formats. When exporting spot colors with alias links, the links are neither exported nor imported.
