Save a nesting as a template in Job Editor

You can save the predefined settings for a nesting job as a template that you can then use to create a preset or virtual printer in Command WorkStation.

Create a new nesting job in Command WorkStation and open it in Job Editor.
After choosing settings, you can save the job or save the settings as a template. When you save a nesting as a template, you can specify options to automate nesting jobs. Command WorkStation creates a nesting when a sufficient number of jobs have been loaded to fill a certain percentage of the sheet or line, or creates and processes the nesting after a specified time period has elapsed, even if the minimum percentage of the sheet or line cannot be filled.
  1. Select Template > Save as Template.

Nesting settings for saving as a template are displayed.

  2. Type a name for the template.
  3. Choose from the following:
    • None - No criteria to support automation of nesting are active. This is the default option.
    • Create Nesting after a minimum of - Offers the following two choices to support automation of nesting jobs in Command WorkStation:
      • Percentage of the line is filled - Defines a minimum percentage width required to complete a nesting. Jobs will be placed to fill the width to that percentage.
      • Length (in units) of the print length is filled - Defines the minimum length on the media to be filled to complete a nesting. Jobs will be placed across both width and height until the specified length is reached.
    • Always Nest after number mins - Defines the period of time to elapse since the last job was loaded. After the time has elapsed, jobs are added to the nesting.
In Command WorkStation, create a preset or virtual printer associated with the nesting template.
