Create a step and repeat in Template Manager

You can create multiple copies (clones) of a placeholder job in a template and use the flip, offset or drop, and rotate settings to create a seamless pattern repeat.

  1. On the Layout tab of Template Manager, expand the Step and Repeat pane. In the pane header bar, select the check box to activate the settings. If you cannot activate the settings, make sure that the template width is less than the substrate width. You cannot create a step and repeat from a template that is equal to or wider than the width of the selected substrate. In this case, either scale the template down, or select a wider substrate.
  2. Under Offset/Drop, define the amount of horizontal or vertical shift. Do one of the following:
    • Percentage (%) - Type the required amount of drop as a fraction of the image width or height if you do not want to use one of the fixed drop sizes.
    • Drop size - Select the amount of drop as a fraction of the image width or height. As an example, 1/1 equals no shift, 1/2 equals a 50% shift, and 1/4 equals a 25% shift.
    • Custom - Type the required amount of vertical or horizontal drop in the unit of measurement selected for Template Manager.
  3. Under Repeat size, select the required number of horizontal and vertical copies.
    • In a horizontal direction, you can do the following:
      • Fill the substrate width
      • Type the number of repeats
      • Define a custom height
    • In a vertical direction, you can do the following:
      • Type the number of repeats
      • Define a custom width
  4. Click Save.

You can also select Template > Save as Template to save the settings as a template, which can then be used to create presets and virtual printers in Command WorkStation.
