Spot color checkup

Spot Pro can perform a checkup on a selected spot color group for a given media or substrate and an output profile. The checkup produces a report that shows how well your printer reproduces the colors in the selected spot color group. If needed, calibration and spot color optimization may reduce the color difference (∆E) and provide a better colorimetric match.

Spot Pro supports the following:
  • All measurement instruments from FieryMeasure.
  • Existing swatch book features, which are patch sizes and page sizes.

Before you begin, connect your measuring instrument to the computer.

  1. In Spot Pro, select a spot color group.
  2. To print the selected spot color group, do one of the following:
    • Click Checkup on the toolbar.
    • Right-click the selected spot color group and select Checkup.
  3. Select a paper source to print the spot color checkup and click OK.
  4. Select the measurement instrument from the list and click Print.
Note: Only supported inline measurement instruments are shown.

Spot Pro prints the selected spot color group and begins the measurement process using the selected measurement device.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to measure the chart.
  6. Click Next.

Spot Pro produces a report that shows how well your printer is reproducing the colors in the selected spot color groups with the current calibration and selected output profile. The report shows the measured ∆E value for each color and a health score to indicate how accurately the colors printed, with a score of 1 representing the lowest score and 10 representing the highest score.

    • You can save the report for future use to compare the accuracy of colors over time.
    • You can improve low health scores by recalibrating your printer, or by recalibrating your printer and creating a new output profile.

You can initiate a spot color verification schedule by clicking Create a schedule in the Fiery Spot Color Report window and create the schedule in the Fiery ColorGuardweb application. For more information on creating the schedule in the Fiery ColorGuard web application, see Fiery IQ Help.
