Set up spot color handling
When a file contains one or more spot colors, you can specify how accurate colors are overprinting each other.
Command WorkStation offers a Production setting that is faster and less accurate but suitable for most production jobs. The Proof setting is slower than the Production setting but creates the best overprint accuracy for a job.
-
Do one of the following:
-
In Server Manager: On the sidebar, click Printers, and select a printer. In the printer's tree view, select a workflow. On the Color tab, expand the Spot Colors panel.
-
In Job Editor: On the sidebar, click Color. On the Color tab, expand the Spot Colors panel.
-
-
Under Spot color handling, select the type of algorithm
to use:
- Automatic
(default)—The Automatic setting uses
the Production spot color algorithm as long as none
of the settings enforces a proof spot color algorithm where the algorithm
switches to Proof internally for one of the following
conditions:
- The .CxF file defines a L*a*b* strategy.
- The spot color order is defined, and then the algorithm switches to Proof internally.
- Proof—The Proof setting creates spot color handling as accurate as possible as in earlier versions.
- Production—The Production setting enforces using the fastest algorithm for spot color overprint by simply adding tints on top of the process colors.
