Duplicating or exporting spot colors or spot color libraries

When you duplicate a spot color library, only the original L*a*b* values and converted values for the selected output profile are duplicated. Spot Pro recalculates the duplicated library using the original L*a*b* values for any other output profile. When you duplicate a system spot color to a custom spot color library, the L*a*b* values correspond to predicted L*a*b* values. These predicted values were obtained from the selected output profile and the original L*a*b* values of the spot color.

Changes made to a spot color or spot color library are not duplicated in this scenario:
  • Another output profile is selected after you make changes to the spot color or spot color library.
  • The spot color or the library containing the spot color is duplicated.

Working with an individual spot color has the same recalculation behavior as working with a spot color library. This behavior also applies to exporting spot color and spot color libraries.
