Create an alias link to an original spot color

An alias creates a fixed link between two spot colors with different names, and ensures that both use the same color values.

  1. In Spot Pro, click the Alias icon () on the tool bar.
  2. Type the original color in the Original color area and click the plus sign to add it.

You can add more than one original color at a time. An original color can be an existing or non-existing color.

If the color resides on the Fiery server, then it will be shown with the Present tag and a light green background color. If the color is not present, then it will be shown with the Not Present tag and a light red background color.

  3. In the Alias to search field, type a name of a spot color and click the magnifying glass () to perform the search.
  4. In the results list, select the color that you want.

The spot color selected as the alias is reproduced instead of the original spot color. It is shown as the converted color and the link to the spot color is listed. A job that contains the alias spot color will print with the separation values of the original spot color.

Note: The information and fields associated with L*a*b, separation, and variations are disabled for the alias spot color.
  5. After selecting the alias color, click Add Alias.

The original color will show the alias color that it is mapped to in the table.

  6. If you need to edit or delete an alias spot color, do one of the following:
    • Click the Edit icon () next to the alias spot color.

In the Original color area, you can add a spot color to the existing list of spot colors that are mapped to the alias spot color or you can remove a spot color by clicking the 'X'.

You can change the alias spot color in the Alias to field.

When you are finished, click Update Alias.

    • Click the Delete icon () next to the alias spot color in the table to remove it from the job.
  7. Click Apply & Close to save the information on the Fiery server.
