Local Color Replacement

Local color replacement allows you to make color corrections locally to a selected area of the page.

Note: The Local Color Replacement feature is available only in Fiery ImageViewer 4.2 and later.
To use Local Color Replacement, do the following:
  • Click the Local Correction button () and use the marquee to select an area within the image to apply local color correction. The selection area will be shown by a dashed line such that color replacement will be applied only to the selected area.
  • Use the large square to zoom in to an area on the image down to a pixel (smaller square) for color replacement.
  • Click the picker icon () for the original color. You can change or replace the color by clicking the replacement color picker icon and moving to the image to select a color or change the values for the color mode, such as CMYK, CMYK+, Grayscale, and CMYK+ Specialty under the Replacement column. The large square used for color enhancement defines the area that is currently being viewed, while the smaller square is the pixel for the selected color.
  • Optionally, replace a color with an existing spot color from the spot color library for the Fiery server. Click the spot color replacement icon () and search for a specific spot color by name or a fuzzy search by number, for example ‘345’, or scroll through the list to select a spot color, and then click OK.
  • Optionally, perform color adjustment by adjusting the individual color curves in the Color Adjust pane. After you make a marquee selection and curve adjustment, the Apply and Cancel buttons will appear in the toolbar next to the Local Correction button (). After you are satisfied with your change, click Apply to save the local color edits.

After a color replacement has been made, click Apply to save your changes in the Color Replacement pane. The color replacement will be listed as a row shown in the Edits pane.

The Edits pane shows all the color edits, whether the edits were made with color replacement or color adjustment of the color curves, made at the local level or page level. Toggle between local color replacement and original color by clicking the eye icon for any of the rows listed in the Edits pane. In the Edits column, the paint brush icon () shows the color edit was made with color replacement based on changes made in the Color Replacement pane or the wavy line box icon () shows the color edit was made using the Color Adjust pane, which shows the overall color curve change.

If you wish to apply the local color replacement to all pages in the document, click the All Pages check box for that specific color replacement. The specified area on all pages in the document will show the same color replacement.

You can adjust the local color replacement area by clicking the replacement color in one of the rows listed in the Edits pane, and then adjust the marquee for the specific area.
