Create a workflow for one-bit files

You can create a workflow to use to process one-bit files sent to the Fiery XF server.

  1. In Command WorkStation, right-click the Fiery XF server and select Server Manager.
  2. On the Printers tab, click the Plus icon next to a printer and select the workflow to modify.
  3. On the File tab, click the arrow next to One-bit to expand the pane.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Type the number of seconds to wait before job completion.

This setting determines how long the Fiery XF server waits for incoming one-bit files that belong to the same job. When the time has elapsed, the Fiery XF server starts printing the job.

    • Select the Number of one-bit files in a job check box and type a number.

This setting defines the number of one-bit files in each job. The Fiery XF server starts printing as soon as it receives the defined number of one-bit files, allowing you to prevent unnecessary idle time.

This setting overrides the Waiting time for job completion setting and prevents jobs from being automatically printed when the specified time has elapsed.

  5. (Optional) Select the Sub-directory for each job check box to have the Fiery XF server create a subdirectory for each job.

You must select this setting if your one-bit files were created by a RIP that automatically generates subdirectories for one-bit files.

  6. In the job recognition preset field, select or type a character sequence that matches the naming convention of your one-bit files.

This setting defines how the Fiery XF server recognizes the job name and all the one-bit files in each job. The defined generic character sequence must match all the files that you process.

For more information, see Defining job recognition presets.

  7. (Optional) Select the Extract color separation from file header check box for the Fiery XF server to extract the color information from the file header in the one-bit file instead of the file name.

Select this option if the individual color separations cannot be identified in the names of the one-bit files. Some RIP devices do not save the color separations as part of the file name.

  8. Under Proofing method, select one of the following:
    Proofing method Description
    Imposition proof

Select this option to create an imposition proof before submitting the job to the press.

Note: Imposition proofs are not color-accurate and should be used only to check the content and completeness of the printing copy.
    Contract proof

Select this option to create a color-accurate screen proof to manage color for the job.

Contract proofs are considered a binding color contract between the customer and the printing house. A contract proof is usually the final proof created before going to the press.

    Contract proof with sharp dots

Select this option to create a quick, color-accurate screen proof.

The print quality of a contract proof with sharp dots is slightly lower than a standard contract proof.

  9. Click Save.
