The AutoGray feature allows you to adjust the gray balance of output
profiles. Gray balance refers to the quality of neutral gray tones in a profile. In many cases, gray
tones may contain a bluish or reddish color cast. AutoGray helps shift these tones back toward
neutral gray.
If you are satisfied with the gray balance of the copier/printer,
you do not need to use AutoGray.
To use AutoGray, you need a grayscale
strip. If you do not have a grayscale strip, obtain one from the manufacturer of your copier/printer or from the Tiffen company at www.tiffen.com.
Note: AutoGray is not available if the copier/printer does not have a built-in scanner.
-
In Device Center, click the Resources tab, and click
Profiles.
-
Select an output profile and click Edit. If Fiery
Color Profiler Suite is installed on your computer, select Color
Editor.
- In Color Editor, click AutoGray.
- Select the input tray to use for printing the measurement page and click Print. The Paper Size is automatically set to LTR/A4.
- Retrieve the measurement page from the printer.
- Follow the on-screen directions for placing the grayscale
strip and the AutoGray measurement page on the glass (platen), and
click Continue.
- When the adjustment is complete, click OK.
Color Editor displays the adjusted output profile curve. AutoGray inserts new edit
points to modify the gray balance, in much the same way an expert user would have done manually.
- To accept the AutoGray adjustment and save the results,
click Save.
- Click Done (Windows)
or Close (Mac OS) to
close Color Editor.
