Sometimes the use of a custom output profile in conjunction with any targeted
gray profile, does not result in a close enough match for some production requirements. To
more closely match a Fiery-driven printer to a gray reference, an optimized media profile is
sometimes used instead.
Be sure that a gray source profile that
simulates the reference is installed on the Fiery server. Use Fiery Printer Profiler to calibrate and profile
the Fiery server before you create the Fiery Optimizer
profile.
Fiery Optimizer
creates a media profile and lets you improve the match to the reference by printing
sample patches and optimizing the grayscale match in the media profile based on
these measurements.
-
In Fiery Color Profiler
Suite, click
Optimize.
-
Click Media profile
gray optimization and click Next.
-
Select the Fiery server.
-
Select a source profile that is
associated with the target standard, select the new output profile that you
created in Fiery Printer Profiler, and
click Next.
Note: A copy of the media profile
is created if you attempt to optimize a factory default media
profile.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to print and measure a patch page using the
spectrophotometer.
Note: If the calibration of a job is outdated, you must
recalibrate the Fiery server before applying gray optimization.
Choose the instrument to measure the patches. To measure pages, click the
measurement instrument in the Instrument menu.
The
Gray optimization chart option is selected as the
Patch Layout setting.
For chart size,
pick your paper size. Select a setting in the Paper
Size list for printing the measurement page or click
Custom and specify a custom page size.
Click Print and configure any media settings (paper
and tray). You do not need to configure color settings as they will be
overridden.
-
If the gray balance profile creation is successful, your profile will be saved
and you can click Exit to close Fiery Optimizer.
If your measurement results differ significantly from the profiling chart
measurement, click Done to close Fiery Optimizer. You must check your
printer status and try the optimization process again later.
If the gray balance in your media profile is accurate, optimization will not
be applied, and you can click Exit to close Fiery Optimizer.
If you would like to optimize the media profile, you can perform this procedure
again.
If you choose to verify an optimized profile that was copied from a
factory default media profile, you must click Edit next to
Job properties preset and specify custom job properties,
such as a source profile or an output profile, in Fiery Verify Assistant. Otherwise, the default job properties preset on
the Fiery server are used, and the verification may not be completed correctly.
