Encrypt user data
Enable user data encryption to secure the information stored on the Fiery server hard disk, consistent with the AES256 standard. You define a passphrase, which will be used to recover the data in the case of hardware replacement or service.
When User Data Encryption is enabled, user configuration, user jobs, logs, and local backup images are encrypted. Any data that comes out of the Fiery server is not encrypted. For example, if users export jobs or backup files to a network location, that data will not be encrypted, even if User Data Encryption is enabled.
- Physically moving the hard disk drive from the Fiery server to another Fiery server
- Replacing hardware
- Changing the passphrase
When you are required to enter the passphrase, the Fiery server cannot accept jobs or otherwise be accessed, except from the passphrase recovery page. When you do enter the passphrase, you can make a maximum of five attempts.
If decryption is in progress, encryption cannot be re-enabled immediately. When decryption has completed, the encryption option will be available.
