Barcode properties

List of the various barcode properties that can be used when editing a variable data document design

Variable type Available properties Control Function
Barcodes Variable Text box Displays the barcode variable name.
Barcodes Apply style menu Choose from Local or Global styles created with Style manager.
Type Choose from the available barcode types. Set the barcode type to match a barcode variable contained in your data source file.
Note: Only formats supported by the data in the first cell of the data source column will be offered as alternate types.
Barcode styling Depending on barcode type, options are available for:
  • Barcode color
  • Barcode text color
  • Barcode and text color
  • Barcode background color
Select the barcode or barcode text color using either the Color picker or Spot color tabs.
Note: Color can be selected by CMYK, HSL, Hex, RGB, using the color palette tool, or by adding a custom spot color.

Import custom spot colors in Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) format by clicking the import icon in the Spot Color tab of the color selection window.

Save colors as Preset colors by choosing a color and clicking Add color.

Transparent background toggle button Select to apply transparent background to barcode types that support this option.
Bar Text Show text toggle button Displays the text displayed with the barcode.
Scale
  • X axis
  • Y axis
Change the scale of a barcode variable on the X and Y axis.
